ORLANDO, Fla. – School employees and law enforcement officers over 50 years old will soon be able to get the coronavirus vaccine in Florida, according to Gov. Ron DeSantis, when federally run Florida inoculation sites begin operation in March.
During a news conference Tuesday, DeSantis said plans are in the works to include the new age group of 50 and older at federal vaccination sites slated to open next week. ....

VCS To Stop Routine Temperature Checks

DeLand, FL - Volusia County Schools (VCS) says that routine temperature checks will no longer be conducted. District officials say that the decision comes after consultation with the Volusia County Health Department and it s also in keeping with current CDC guidelines. From a press release issued by Cindi Lane, accredited public relations specialist (APR) for the District:  According to the CDC, “Based on the best available evidence at this time, the CDC does not currently recommend schools conduct symptom screening for all students on a routine basis.” Volusia County Health Department Administrator Patricia Boswell told VCS it’s important that families, “continue to monitor your children for symptoms of infectious illness every day through home-based symptom screening. Students who are sick should not attend school in-person.” ....
