Caring Fore Kids fundraiser has had significant impact on local health care for kids

2021 Burggraf’s Ace Hardware Caring Fore Kids Charity Classic takes place May 31-June 4
In 2014, the Caring Fore Kids fund at Grand Itasca Foundation was established with the intent of expanding and enhancing pediatric care at Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital. Since that time, Caring Fore Kids has funded more than $350,000 in projects, programs, and equipment that simply would not have been possible without it. In-person events return to First Friday Art Walk

First Friday Art Walks are a community event celebrating creativity and art. For months the event has featured online, virtual events to keep guests safe through the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers have now decided to bring back in-person events for the May First Friday Art Walk this week on Friday, May 7.
All are welcome to the First Friday Art Walk. Guests are asked to maintain six-foot distance between other guests and face coverings are required for indoor events.
“We are excited and a little nervous about getting back to in person events,” said Katie Marshall, Executive Director of the MacRostie Art Center. “Our gallery capacity is still limited to 50% so we’ll have to be mindful of attendance numbers, but I’m really looking forward to the energy that comes from having people viewing the art and connecting with the artists in person.” ....

Greenway school board considers long-term plans

The Greenway school board met for a regular meeting Wednesday, March 31. The board looked to the future as they considered proposals for future class trips and long-term facility maintenance plans.
Spanish Teacher at Greenway Renee Gibbons gave a presentation on the trip the Spanish class took to Costa Rica in early 2020. Two students went on the trip. Gibbons also requested approval for the next Spanish class trips to Costa Rica for March or April of 2022 and 2023. A number of concerns were raised by both board members and Superintendent Dave Pace.
“I’m concerned about approving any travel for next year. The following year, I don’t have a problem with that,” Pace stated. “Unfortunately, as I’ll report, we don’t even know where next year is going to bring us. We don’t know how we are going to open yet.” ....
