HANOI Copper prices rose in London but fell in Shanghai as investors weighed hopes of rising demand against fears of tightening policy in top consumer China that could dampen liquidity flow.
Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange advanced 0.5% to $8,826 a tonne by 0259 GMT, while the most-traded April copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange fell 1.5% to 65,600 yuan ($10,070.15) a tonne.

HANOI, March 10 (Reuters) - Copper futures advanced in
London on Wednesday on hopes of rising demand, but prices in
Shanghai fell on fears of policy tightening by top consumer
China.
Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange
advanced 0.5% to $8,822 a tonne by 0708 GMT, while the
most-traded April copper contract on the Shanghai Futures
Exchange ended down 1.9% at 65,330 yuan a tonne.
Copper is pegged by analysts to benefit from a global
economic recovery and rising demand from green investments, but
possible policy tightening in China could put a lid on a
sustained economic recovery and inflows into financial markets. ....

METALS-Copper spirals lower as bond rout spooks investors

LONDON, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Copper retreated on Friday after touching successive multi-year peaks, falling more than 3% as risk-off sentiment hit wider financial markets after a spike in bond yields.
Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange (LME) had slumped 3.8% to $9,056 a tonne by 1715 GMT, having hit multi-year peaks in six consecutive sessions.
On Thursday, LME copper hit its highest since August 2011 at $9,617 a tonne, 5.6% short if its record high of $10,190 in February 2011.
Other metals, such as aluminium and nickel, were also hit as Asian shares suffered their heaviest fall in nine months amid a rout in global bond markets that sent yields flying. ....
