Richard Roberts to become new leader of Hertfordshire County Council

The Conservative group have chosen their new leader of Hertfordshire County Council following the shock departure of David Williams.
Richard Roberts, who serves as a county councillor Kings Langley, was backed to take on the role following a meeting between Tory members on Monday afternoon.
Former leader Mr Williams narrowly lost his Harpenden North East seat to the Liberal Democrats during the 2021 local elections held last week. ....

Labour react after taking three Conservative seats in Borehamwood

Three newly-elected councillors have reacted after the Labour party completed a clean sweep of Borehamwood at the local elections.
A trio of seats in the town, all previously held by the Conservatives, went to Labour after votes were counted at the Radlett Centre on Saturday.
The party claimed both county council seats in Borehamwood as well as the vacant borough council seat in the Kenilworth ward.
Cowley Hill Labour councillor Richard Butler secured victory in Borehamwood South in the Hertfordshire County Council elections - the first time Labour have won the seat in 20 years. ....

Welwyn Hatfield and Potters Bar county council elections


Conservatives also gained Haldens, while holding on to Hatfield East and Hatfield Rural.
Cllr Stephen Boulton will continue to represent Hatfield Rural, but Hatfield East will be represented by Peter Hebden.
In Hertsmere, the Conservatives held on to just four of their seven seats - including in Potters Bar East and Potters Bar West and Shenley.
Leader of the borough council Cllr Morris Bright was among those who held on to his seat.
Overall the Conservatives have retained their control of Herts County Council - but lost their leader in an election shock, when Cllr David Williams lost his seat in Harpenden North East to Lib Dem Paul De Kort. ....
