Milton Keynes residents age 60-plus urged to get COVID-19 vaccine

In the latest stage of the vaccination programme, the NHS is now inviting all those aged 60 or over to get a life-saving COVID-19 vaccination.
This week, around two million people between the ages of 60 and 63 will be invited to book an appointment and receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Across England, there have now been 16.5 million people who have received their first jab - just over a third of the whole adult population.
Praising the ongoing vaccination programme, Professor Stephen Powis, the NHS’s national medical director, said: “The NHS vaccination programme, the biggest in the health service’s history and fastest in Europe, goes from strength to strength.

Missing Leah Croucher: Fresh appeal to find Milton Keynes woman

"We would expect her walking route to have taken her past Telytubbie Hill on Dulverton Drive.
"From that point we believe that Leah would have either taken a route north around Furzton Lake or along Loxbeare Drive into Shenley Lodge and north along Faraday Drive.

“This area is a well populated residential area with people commuting, doing the school run or exercising. Given how busy the area is I find it hard to believe that this CCTV clip of Leah at 8.16am is the last time that we know she was seen.
“We know for sure that the day before Leah’s disappearance she took a route which led her from Dulverton Drive and along Loxbeare Drive, under H7 Chaffron Way. She then took a combination of Faraday Drive and the adjacent redways through Shenley Lodge and into Knowlhill.

TJ Draper was last seen on Saturday (February 2) at around 12.30am in Hemel Hempstead.
He is known to frequent the Netherfield and Shenley Lodge areas.
Investigating Officer Sergeant Deborah Seagrave, based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “We are very concerned about the whereabouts of TJ.
“If you have seen him or think you may know where he is, please get in touch.
“We would also like to directly appeal to TJ to get in touch. Please contact either the police or your family.”

Raymond Mwasaru spent 45 days on a ventilator in an induced coma at Milton Keynes Hospital last May.
He also suffered kidney failure due to the virus and his wife Alice was told to come and say a final goodbye because doctors did not think he would survive.
Yet miraculously 64-year-old Raymond pulled through and left the hospital in July, with nurses lining up along the corridor to applaud him as he was wheeled out in a chair.

He is now recovering at home where, six months on, he still suffers from shortage of breath and coughing fits due to the scarring on his lungs.

Vets issue safety warning to pet owners in Milton Keynes as temperatures drop below freezing

The British Veterinary Association (BVA) is advising pet owners to take extra precautions to ensure dogs, cats and other small pets are kept safe from hidden and potentially fatal winter hazards.
As with humans, pets can fall ill upon exposure to extremely cold temperatures for extended periods. To avoid this, BVA is asking owners to consider putting a coat on old dogs or those with thin fur to keep them warm. It is also important to wipe your dog’s paws and belly on returning home from a snowy walk to remove any traces of ice or grit, and to regularly check for cracks in paw-pads or for redness between the toes.
