Having to deal with the realities of Bulbar ALS, I have chosen not to allow it to dictate the conditions or timing of my passing from this life. It was natural for me to look for the good in all circumstances. With the support of my forever partner, soulmate and best friend, my David, I have chosen to give the gift of life to others, through organ donation.
The focus of my life has been to help others through my teaching career, especially in special education, and volunteer work, particularly with the TBRHSC HELP program.
I have lived life to the fullest through the supreme enjoyment of the simple things: reading, singing, summer/winter sports, long walks, yardwork, beer in the sun, saunas with good scotch and dark chocolate, leisurely picnic boat rides, paddling my canoe, world travels and living for two years in Sweden. ....

COVID-19 has made lakefront properties harder to find

Waterfront property listings for both year-round homes and seasonal use have plummeted, partly due to increasing demand.

A recent Leger survey found that 11 per cent of Canadians were already searching for recreational property prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that 15 per cent of Canadians who were
not searching at the time are now looking.
A report from RE/MAX Canada describes Thunder Bay as a sellers market, with low inventory and high demand.
Not just Lake Superior but like One Island Lake and Hawkeye and Dog Lake, the year-round houses are in high demand right now. Higher-end homes are selling with multiple offers, Hill said, adding that other recreational properties are also getting multiple offers. ....

William Robert Mazurkewich, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2021. He was 87.
Born and raised in Fort William, Bill was the middle child in a Ukrainian-Canadian family of 13 children. His family faced the kind of economic struggles we can only imagine today, living in a three-bedroom home on Alexandra Street. Yet Bill (Butts), who came from a family of over-achievers, didn’t let financial shortcomings hold back his career aspirations. He carved out a path as an accountant for Caland Ore in Atikokan, followed by a 15-year stint at Ontario Hydro, all while upgrading his credentials by taking accounting courses and studying law. He loved politics, becoming Treasurer of the Liberal Riding Association in 1966. He told family he stepped aside to let Pat Reid take the liberal nomination for Rainy River District in 1967. He later served seven years as a councillor for the Township of O’Connor. Bill also poured much of his energy into his fraternities: he was Master at the ....
