GREEN RIVER Two former longtime local Wyoming legislators were honored by the Green River City Council at their Tuesday night Council meeting. The Council honored Stan Blake and John Freeman for their years of service in the Wyoming Legislature, which totals 24 years of service between the both of them. Freeman retired from the legislature, while Blake lost the 2020 election. Blake served 14 years in the Legislature serving the residents of House District 39, starting his legislative work in 2007. During his time, he served on eight committees, including agriculture, state and public lands, water resources, transportation, highways, military affairs, and a select committee on tribal relations which he chaired, according to Councilwoman Sherry Bushman. ....

ROCK SPRINGS After much discussion, the Rock Springs City Council decided it did not have the funding available to help Sweetwater County fund the ambulance service and is asking the Sweetwater County Commission to extend its contacts with both ambulance services until June 1, 2021. The Council unanimously approved writing a letter to the commissioners letting them know they would like to continue working together to find a solution for ambulance service funding, however it cannot help fund the service at this time. Rock Springs Mayor Tim Kaumo said he will also ask the Commissioners to extend those contracts to June 2021 to give the organizations more time to try and come up with a short-term funding solution. ....

GREEN RIVER – The Green River City Council were told tonight that they will have to help fund county-wide ambulance services or else Sweetwater Medics will no longer have the funding to respond to 911 calls. Sweetwater County Commissioner Jeff Smith presented the Council with a letter that requests the City of Green River and the City of Rock Springs provide 50 percent of the funding, while the County covers the other half. Green River would be responsible for one-third of the cities’ portion of the funding while Rock springs would be responsible for two-thirds. The request from the ambulance providers to provide the service for fiscal year 2021-2022 is about $1.2 million. ....
