Women scribes slam Pak PM Imran Khan for linking rape with dress code

Karachi [Pakistan], April 19 (ANI): Women journalists across Pakistan have slammed Prime Minister Imran Khan for his remarks that women s dress code is the real reason or motive for rape.
According to Dawn, an online conference titled From Attire to Desire , organised by Uks Research Centre here on Saturday had several women journalists, writers and academics of the country share their views on the issue of women s dress code and whether it is the real reason or motive for rape.
Senior journalist Nasim Zehra said that blaming the dress code for something as heinous as rape weakens the victim. It puts the blame on the victim, and empowers the perpetrator, she said as quoted by Dawn. ....

ISLAMABAD: A protest erupted here against Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, demanding a public apology from him for his statement blaming vulgarity in society for rape and sexual violence.
The demonstration was organised on Thursday by Rights activist and civil society representatives outside the National Press Club here, Pakistan s News International reported.
The protestors criticised Khan for what they called victim-blaming and called for an apology for the comment he made during a question and answer session with the public when he was asked for suggesting a solution to rising child abuse cases in the country. ....

ISLAMABAD: Rights activists and civil society representatives gathered outside the National Press Club to protest against Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement blaming “vulgarity” in society for rape and sexual violence.
The protestors criticised the prime minister for what they called “victim blaming” and called for an apology for the comment he made during a question and answer session with public when he was asked for suggesting solution to rising child abuse cases in the country.
