Mansfield Fire Department Grant Will Help Investigate Cause Of Fires

MANSFIELD, Ohio The Mansfield Fire Department has received a US$2,000 fire prevention grant from FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers.
FM Global representatives presented the award to Lieutenant Dan Crow, who oversees the Fire Prevention Bureau, located at the city’s Central Station. The award will be used to assist with fire investigations to help fire investigators more efficiently investigate and determine the cause of a fire.
Because fire continues to be the leading cause of property damage worldwide, during the past 40 years FM Global has contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to fire service organizations around the globe. Locally, the company has awarded grants to a number of Ohio-based organizations. ....

Walla Walla Fire Department Receives $5,000 Grant
The Walla Walla Fire Department has received money to help deliver the Safety Always Matters fire-safety program to students.
Usually, firefighters get to visit schools to speak to students and have them participate in the program hands-on.
The Covid-19 pandemic has made things different, not only for students but for firefighters as well.
This year, the Fire Department is participating in ZOOM sessions with students and showing videos.
The department has received a $5,000 grant from
FM Global, a commercial property insurer. The money will be used to produce fire safety videos. The total cost of video production has a $9,000 price-tag. The videos will be seen by kindergartners through fifth-graders in Walla Walla, Prescott, dixie, Touchet, College Place, and Liberty Christian Elementary Schools. ....

With distance learning in most schools the rule of the year while quarantining during the coronavirus pandemic, the WWFD has looked at alternatives to giving live presentations.
To help resolve the challenge, the department received a $5,000 grant to assist in creating educational fire safety videos from commercial property insurer
FM Global.
Tim Thompson with the WWFD Prevention Office worked with Walla Walla Public Schools to develop a plan that includes Zoom sessions with firefighters in combination with videos of each grade-level curriculum. ....
