Gould offers new undergraduate minors


Courses that satisfy requirements for the three undergraduate minors offered through the Gould School of Law are taught mainly by Gould faculty, who also teach in the juris doctor degree. (Beth Mosch | Daily Trojan)
After a year of offering the legal studies minor and in response to students’ increased interests in social justice and immigration-related issues, the USC Gould School of Law will offer two more specialized minors. 
Gould’s new law and social justice and law and migration studies minors will be offered beginning in Fall 2021. According to Robert Rasmussen, the J. Thomas McCarthy Trustee chair in law and political science, it is beneficial for people to familiarize themselves with the law, regardless of their professional background.  ....

The opioid epidemic has become a national concern and has taken our country by storm. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have reported that there were approximately 81,000 overdoses caused by opioids since the end of May 2020. Interestingly, 38.4% of those deaths were caused by fentanyl.
The CDC defines fentanyl as a biochemically engineered drug, used to treat excruciating pain; furthermore, it is significantly stronger than morphine. Fentanyl is an illegal opioid that has destroyed a myriad of communities, families and individuals.
