As she developed her sophomore feature, director Yngvild Sve Flikke sought to evoke the messiness of life. “I’m a restless person,” the Scandinavian filmmaker tells
Variety. “If I’m working on something knowing exactly where it’s going, I’ll get an itch in my back, telling me to change it up. I wanted to make [a film] that was as crazy as life can be.”
A veteran of Norwegian public broadcasting, Flikke set her sights on illustrator Inga Sætre’s acclaimed graphic novel “The Art of Falling,” about a hard-partying young adult faced with an unanticipated pregnancy. Working alongside Sætre and longtime collaborator Johan Fasting, Flikke adapted the comic into the crowd-pleasing “Ninjababy,” which premieres on Tuesday at SXSW following a Berlin berth earlier this month. ....

Full year 2020 organic EBITDA growth of 14.0% and free cash flow before acquisitions of DKK 1.4 billion. 2021 organic EBITDA growth expected at >7%.
For the full year 2020, Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S delivered net sales of DKK 8,006 million and EBITDA before special items of DKK 1,826 million. This corresponds to 6.6% organic growth in net sales and 14.0% organic growth in EBITDA - and is in line with the financial guidance given 18 December 2020 of >13% organic EBITDA growth. Free cash flow before acquisitions of DKK 1,394 million was higher than expected due to timing of payables. The Board of Directors proposes an ordinary dividend of DKK 6.50 per share for 2020, an increase of 6.6% compared to the ordinary dividend for 2019. This will be supplemented by a share buy-back program of up to DKK 600 million in 2021. ....

Brasserie Benelux opening in Saratoga this month
A European restaurant called Brasserie Benelux is in the final weeks of development at 390 Broadway in Saratoga Springs, former home to Braeburn Tavern, The Crown Grill and Brindisi’s Restaurant.
An opening in late March is projected.
The owner is Armand VanderStigchel, a chef who has written books
 including “Wings Across America,” “Adirondack Cookbook” and “Adirondack Cuisine.” The latter was also a five-part series on the Plattsburgh PBS affiliate. VanderStigchel said he has consulted at restaurants in New York City, but this is his first involvement locally and first venture as a proprietor. He said he recently moved to Saratoga and has had a second home in  Queensbury for 20 years. ....

Rome-based international sales and production company TVCO has sold Dace Pūce’s debut feature “The Pit” to German independent distributor Arsenal Filmverleih.
The drama, staged by Latvia’s Marana Production and Finland’s Inland Film Company, is based on a series of true stories published by Jana Egle.

The plot follows a 10-year-old boy called Markuss (Damirs Onackis), who must adapt to starting a new life in the Latvian countryside with his strict grandmother (Dace Eversa). After Emīlija (Luize Birkenberga), a neighbor’s daughter, makes some contemptuous remarks about Markuss’s dead father, he decides to trick her and makes her fall into a pit. The cruel lesson has severe repercussions throughout the village and the only person who seems to understand the child and his fears is an old sai ....

Emily Atef, whose latest film “3 Days in Quiberon” competed at the Berlinale in 2018, is getting ready to shoot “More Than Ever,” a melodrama headlined by Vicky Krieps (“Phantom Thread”) and Gaspard Ulliel (“It’s Only the End of the World”). Jesper Christensen (“Before the Frost”) and Liv Ullmann will also star.
The Match Factory is representing the project in international markets.
