Torlano said he’s tried to ski down Half Dome for the past three years. He’s spent hours studying snow conditions and routes on Half Dome, including from a friend’s small airplane. It all finally came together on his fourth try, Sunday morning.
Milligan, who accompanied him, is a rock climber who doesn’t consider himself a skier. But others weren’t available Sunday, and Milligan was up for the adventure. He thought he’d likely just film Torlano as his friend skied down Half Dome, but when the time came, Milligan decided to click into his skis, too. Faulty cable cuts power to Snow King, about 300 other customers

A faulty underground cable cut power to some 300 Jackson customers for a couple hours on Wednesday and stranded skiers on Snow King Mountain Resort lifts for a chilly 15 to 20 minutes.
Reports of the power outage at Snow King began to come in to the Jackson Hole Daily not long before the hillâs closing time at 6:30 p.m.
At least one skier said she was stuck on the Cougar Lift for between 15 and 20 minutes as she waited for auxiliary power to kick in to get riders to the top of the chair lift.
After unloading from the lift at dusk, skiers and snowboarders had to traverse their way down the ski slopes without nighttime lights that typically illuminate the trails. ....

Pebble Creek Ski Patrol rope rescues 38 skiers from stalled lift

INKOMÂ â Thirty-eight people had to be rescued with ropes from the main chairlift at Pebble Creek Ski Area on Sunday morning after a mechanical problem caused the lift to abruptly stop working.Â
The incident did not result in any injuries â just some cold skiers. The Skyline lift stopped working sometime after 10:30 a.m. on a crowded morning. There were dozens of people on the lift at the time, all of whom became stranded for at least half an hour.
Members of Pebble Creek Ski Patrol used handheld rope guns to shoot rope over the cable above chairs on the lift, then attaching bars for stranded skiers to sit on while being lowered to the ground. While Ski Patrol worked, ski area personnel made the necessary repairs to Skyline lift. ....
