MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee County and City of Milwaukee leaders, organizations, and other guests kicked off Pride Month on Tuesday, June 1 – and unveiled some ways the community is coming together to celebrate.
The month of June is observed nationally as Pride Month for the LGBTQ+ community. Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City, which marked the beginning of the modern movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ+) Americans.
Since Milwaukee’s annual PrideFest is not able to take place in June like it normally would, a news release says local municipalities and organizations are finding additional ways to celebrate and promote diversity, inclusion, and respect for all. ....

MILWAUKEE - New creatures are now inhabiting Milwaukee s Cathedral Square Park as the Massimals MKE installation was unveiled Wednesday, Jan.13.
A group of five bear sculptures, by artist Jason Scroggin of Scroggin Studio, is downtown s latest public art installation.
Massimals are abstractions of animal forms built in the manner of massing study models produced in an architectural design practice used to explore the relationship between complex form, material, and fabrication.

A new public art installation went into Cathedral Square Park Wednesday.
The installation, called Massimals MKE, is a row of five bears, at 1:1 scale, walking along a path through the park. They’re made out of just under 40 individual pieces fit together in an interlocking grid to create the shape of a bear.
The artist,
Jason Scroggin, said the idea for the piece comes from the desire to make a massive form based upon his architectural research. He’s done these Massimals bears before, in different sizes, materials and techniques. In 2020 he had a number of colored bears inside Chicago’s Pedway. ....
