Young Central Queenslanders who are looking to make a real change in their communities are encouraged to participate in the 2021 YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament, with nominations now open.
The YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament offers young Queenslanders aged 15 to 25 years the opportunity to speak up for their communities and learn first-hand about parliamentary processes.
Member for Keppel and Assistant Education Minister Brittany Lauga said since 1996, the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament had brought young people together to learn about democracy, connect with their peers and have a say about important issues facing the state.
“I encourage young people to nominate for this program to assist them to build their leadership skills and learn about influencing change,” Ms Lauga said. ....

She said her vision for the staff and students of the college was to foster an environment that empowered students to engage authentically in the learning process.

Girls at an elite private Catholic school forced other students to watch porn in a range of bullying incidents, causing one teenager to consider suicide, a distraught Queensland mother has claimed.
As thousands of children around the state head back to school this week, 27 per cent say they have been bullied, with many reporting they have been involved in an incident as often as every two weeks.

HSC 2020: NSW schools dominated by James Ruse Agricultural High School for 25th consecutive year

James Ruse Agricultural High School has claimed the title of NSW’s top school for the 25th year in a row, an unparalleled achievement in the history of the Higher School Certificate.
Baulkham Hills High School was second, with North Sydney Boys’ and Girls’ high schools third and fourth. Sydney Grammar, at fifth, was the only independent school in the state’s top 10.
