Tech stocks jumped on Friday after a weak April jobs report led to a rally in stay-at-home stocks.
April saw an addition of 266,000 jobs, well below the estimates forecast of 1 million.
The April jobs report represented the worst miss since 1998.
Technology stocks soared on Friday and the S&P 500 hit a record high after a weak April jobs report led to investors bidding up popular stay-at-home stocks that have performed well during the pandemic.

The 30-stock BSE Sensex opened around 51,964 levels, down 154 points or 0.3% lower in opening trades while Nifty 50 was seen trading at 15,258.10 or 55.35 points lower around 0920 hours.

The market started off flat with a negative bias Wednesday morning after slipping the previous day. 
The 30-stock BSE Sensex opened around 51,964 levels, down 154 points or 0.3% lower in opening trades while Nifty 50 was seen trading at 15,258.10 or 55.35 points lower around 0920 hours.  
Broader markets fared slightly better as mid-caps outperformed blue-chips in early trades.
On Tuesday, Sensex closed 50 points lower at 52,104.17 while Nifty settled almost flat at 15,313 levels.

US retail sales surged 5.3% in January, the most in seven months.

oil prices remained elevated.
US stocks pulled back from record highs Wednesday morning as investors weighed whether strong retail sales indicate a positive economic recovery or a signal that could dampen congressional urgency around passing the next stimulus bill.US retail sales soared in January by the most in seven months. Sales grew 5.3% in January, the Census Bureau said Wednesday. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expected spending to climb by 1%. The reading snaps a three-month streak of contracting sales and follows a revised 1% decline in December. The single-month expansion is also the largest since June.

The BSE Sensex was at 52,476.32, up 322.19 points or 0.6% and the Nifty 50 was at 15,401.65 points, gaining almost 87 points or 0.6% around 0923 hours.

After surging 1% higher in the previous session, benchmarks moved higher on Tuesday within minutes of opening near flat. The BSE Sensex was at 52,476.32, up 322.19 points or 0.6% and the Nifty 50 was at 15,401.65 points, gaining almost 87 points or 0.6% around 0923 hours.   
ONGC, IndusInd Bank, Kotak Bank, SBI, Power Grid and L&T were the top gainers while Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv and Sun Pharma were top Sensex laggards.
