Crawford, Richland and Vernon counties embarked upon a study of well water quality following release of the Southwest Wisconsin Groundwater and Geology (SWIGG) study results. Those results showed significant problems with drinking water quality in Grant, Iowa and Lafayette counties.
The DAWS team, composed of Land Conservation Department staff, Public Health Staff, and private conservation group members from the three counties, met for over a year to prepare to launch the study. The Douglas County Land Conservation Department hosts an educational webinar about ground water in the area.
Kevin Masarik from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Center for Watershed Science and Education will discuss groundwater in general, how to maintain and protect wells, as well as the results of recent testing in Douglas County.
People will have the opportunity to ask questions about their test at the end of the webinar. Results were mailed to participants from the UW-Stevens Point, according to Cameron Bertsch, land conservation engineering technician.
Board of Supervisors may vote on extending CAFO Moratorium Crawford County
CRAWFORD COUNTY - The Crawford County Board of Supervisors has a variety of things of note on their agenda for their Tuesday, Dec. 15 meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Perhaps most notable is the agenda item called ‘Report from LCC/action on extending CAFO moratorium.’
Although Crawford County remains in ‘Phase One,’ which means public health guidelines recommend limiting indoor gatherings to 10 people or less, along with social distancing, there is a virtual option available to participate in the meeting via Zoom.
