Article content Councillors Robert Kirwan and Bill Leduc continued to advocate Tuesday for a daytime warming centre for Greater Sudbury’s homeless and street-involved populations. They said the need is pressing now as the current centre on Frood Road will no longer be available as of Jan. 1. Kirwan and Leduc began introducing a motion at the last council meeting for money to install trailers, which would be used as warming centres, across the street from the Samaritan Centre in a municipal parking lot. They want to single-source the contract to Independent Living Sudbury Manitoulin, who would manage the operation. Previously they had indicated the program would cost $175,000, but Leduc said Tuesday that figure is closer to $250,000. ....
