Spine road labelled "absolutely insane" with fears Thornaby will bear brunt of thousands of extra cars

A SPINE road lined up for a new Middlesbrough estate has been labelled “absolutely insane” with fears thousands of cars will be channelled into Thornaby.
Thornaby mayor Steve Walmsley has repeatedly sounded worries about congestion on major routes in the town – with pleas for a new junction on the A19 to ease traffic jams.
A new 30mph north to south road is still in the Stainsby country park vision west of the A19 – with car-owners living in up to 1,670 homes set to use the Mandale Interchange.
Now Cllr Walmsley has urged Stockton and Middlesbrough Council leaders to “get their heads together” over worries Thornaby is being treated as a “patsy” and a “regional thoroughfare”. ....
