STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Staten Island has seen its share of the small screen over the years even if you didn’t always know it.
Many TV and streaming shows have used the borough as a backdrop. While some have referenced Staten Island, others have transformed the Island into unrecognizable spots.
All that said, here are 28 shows you may not know were filmed on Staten Island.
Around 2008, The CW’s
“Gossip Girl” took over the St. George Theatre and a major part of Hyatt Street for filming purposes. According to those who recall the shoot, production crew spent two days taking down the theater’s elaborate Christmas tree and other holiday decorations in December 2008.

A 10-day journey has a happy ending for a lost tortoise who escaped from her house in Brooklyn.
Doris the tortoise is home and back in the arms of the Torres family in Bay Ridge.
Doris escape began a massive community search that even got support from local politicians.
Doris may be slow, but the tortoise miraculously made it all the way to Staten Island.
The person who found Doris called the Staten Island Zoo, thinking that s where she escaped from.
Animal control officers were then able to get in contact with Doris owner Laura Torres, who was reunited with her missing pet.
Missing for 10 days, Doris the tortoise is found on Staten Island and reunited with her Bay Ridge family

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. After 10 days missing and a not-entirely-clear trip to Staten Island, a beloved tortoise was reunited Friday with her Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, family.
Doris the tortoise went missing from the Torres family’s home April 21 after a gate to their yard was left open.
