Spectrum Health names new leader for Ottawa, Allegan region

GRAND RAPIDS Spectrum Health has announced a new market leader for the system’s southwest region, which covers Ottawa and Allegan counties.
Bill Hoefer will step into the role in early June, and will also be the new president of Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital.
“I’m already proud of the accomplishments of Zeeland Community Hospital,” Hoefer stated in a press release. “I see part of my role as helping to celebrate achievements and find new ways to maintain Zeeland Community Hospital’s standing within the community as a trusted partner in health. I’m incredibly excited to meet the team and start contributing to future successes.” ....

ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Thursday (May 6, 2021) is a day to honor those who serve in the medical field.
It’s National Nurses’ Day, the start of National Nurses’ Week, and more than a year of being among those on the front lines of the COVID 19 outbreak, Chief Nursing Officer Linda Schaltz of Spectrum Health-Zeeland Community Hospital and her colleagues have had to be flexible and durable.

Spectrum Health Butterworth, Blodgett and Zeeland Community Hospitals were named to the Fortune/IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals list published by Fortune.
This is the eighth time Spectrum Health Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals have been recognized with this honor since 2010. They were named among the top-performing hospitals in the major teaching peer group.
This also is the sixth consecutive award for Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital, which was named in the small community peer group.

The Leapfrog Group released its spring 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, and Michigan moved up in the rankings.
Michigan ranked 10th in the country for highest percentage of A-grade hospitals, improving from last fall’s ranking of 14th.
The independent grading system assigns A, B, C, D and F letter grades to general acute-care hospitals in the U.S. based on their ability to protect patients from avoidable errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
Seventy-nine hospitals were graded in Michigan for the spring 2021 term. Michigan scored a record number of A-ranked hospitals with 35 facilities earning the top mark. Twenty-seven hospitals earned a B, 16 earned a C and one earned a D. There were no F-ranked hospitals. ....

A record 35 of 79 hospitals in Michigan have earned top scores of A from the Leapfrog Group and the Economic Alliance for Michigan in its spring 2021 hospital safety report.
