Pike Inc. awarded Livermore paving bid


The town received four mailed bids and one by email, Administrative Assistant Aaron Miller said.
Pike’s bid of $331,341.25 was the lowest. P & B Paving of Gray submitted the highest bid at $445,589.85. The bid from St. Laurent & Son, Inc. of Lewiston was $352,800. $334,485.22 was the bid from All States Construction, Inc. of Richmond. The bid from Spencer Group Paving of Turner was $337,677.19.
The paving includes shim and overlay of a section of the Norlands and Goding roads plus overlay only on a section of Waters Hill Road. The first road is 22 feet wide while the others are 20 feet wide.
“That’s pretty competitive right there,” Selectperson Brett Deyling said after the vote. ....

Livermore approves paving bid to Pike Industries


LIVERMORE Selectpersons voted Tuesday night to approve a paving bid from Pike Industries of Fairfield.
Pike’s offer of $331,341.25 was the lowest of five. The others were P & B Paving of Gray for $445,589.85, St. Laurent & Son of Lewiston for $352,800, All States Construction of Richmond for $334,485.22 and Spencer Group Paving of Turner for $337,677.19.
“That’s pretty competitive right there,” Selectperson Brett Deyling said.
The work includes sections of Norlands, Goding and Waters Hill roads.
In other business, the board approved changes to credit card spending limits for the fire chief and administrative assistant as part of a new credit card policy. The limit for the fire chief’s card was raised from $500 to $2,500. ....

Livermore Falls to create Facebook page to inform residents

LIVERMORE FALLS A Facebook page will be created to keep residents informed of what is going on in town government and other useful information.
Selectmen had approved the idea previously but wanted a policy in place. The board approved the Social Media Policy on Tuesday. Town Clerk Amy Byron said she used a Maine Management Association policy and made it pertinent to the town.
Byron and Town Manager Amanda Allen will administer it.
Selectmen also welcomed newly elected board members Jim Long and William Kenniston. They join Selectmen Jeff Bryant, Ernie Souther and Rodney Heikkinen.
The board reelected Bryant as chairman and Souther as vice chairman. The latter position has not been filled for several years. ....

Farmington board approves paving, police cruisers bids


FARMINGTON Selectmen on Tuesday night approved bids for summer paving and two police cruisers.
The $159,140 bid from All-States Construction Inc. of Richmond for reclamation and paving was approved.
Other companies submitting bids were $170,955 from Pike Industries of Fairfield, $226,529 from St. Laurent and Son of Lewiston, $172,156 from Maine-ly Paving Services of Canaan and $168,442 from Spencer Group Paving of Turner.
Farmington streets and roads to be paved this summer include Perkins, Lincoln and a section of Quebec street, Osborn and Titcomb Hill roads.

Five streets were included in the bid specifications. Lincoln and Perkins streets and the section of Quebec Street parallel to those streets are to be paved. About 2,300 feet of Osborn Road will be reclaimed and paved and about 8,765 feet of Titcomb Hill Road will be paved. ....

Mechanic Falls council moves toward hiring interim town manager

MECHANIC FALLS The Town Council decided at an emergency meeting Thursday to contact four people who may be interested in serving as interim town manager.
The names were provided by the Maine Municipal Association so the town could have someone under contract after May 31, the last day of Town Manager Zakk Maher’s service.
Maher submitted his resignation April 1 and it was accepted by the council April 6.
The council agreed to hire an interim manager because MMA advised it could take several months to find someone to fill the position permanently.
“This is all new to us, we’re trying to do it right,” Vice Chairwoman Tarsha Downing said. ....
