It s time for our latest addition to the list of amazing people that have been nominated for our Central Bank of Sedalia Unsung Hero.
This month, our nominee was Diane Shipley.  She was nominated by her friend Missy Casdorph.  Here s what she said:
Diane was there for us my son passed away and took on everything, even though she was dealing with a loss, too. Diane and Kevin, her fiance, have stepped up and been there for my kids during this time.
Diane has been a volleyball coach for years.  She worked with the team at State Fair Community College for ten years, Central Methodist for three years, and now she s the coach for Smith Cotton High School.  She s from Green Ridge, but has lived here in Sedalia since the mid eighties. ....

Edgar Named Bell Ringer Winner For February
Skyline Elementary School mixed-age teacher Tonya Edgar is the recipient of the Superintendent’s Bell Ringer Award for February.
The monthly award is a way for Superintendent Steve Triplett to honor Sedalia 200 staff members who put the district’s mission statement into action and those who display exemplary effort in celebrating student success. Winners are selected from nominations made by staff members and administrators.
The nominator for Edgar wrote: “Mrs. Edgar celebrates her students with RoAR awards when they get an A on a test and she sends home a poster to hang on their door when they pass their multiplication facts. Mrs. Edgar s class does a fundraiser to support our community every year. This year proceeds went to the Community Cafe. ....

MARIE HOUSEL DABNER


Marie Housel Dabner, 101, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
She was born August 25, 1919 in Sedalia, a daughter of the late Edward Glover and Maude C. Gordy Housel. On October 16, 1935 she was married to Melvin “Teddy” Dabner, who preceded her in death on March 22, 2008.
Marie was raised and educated in Sedalia and attended Mark Twain and Smith-Cotton High School. She was the first girl to work for Interstate Studio from 1934 to 1943. Later she was a photographic color artist for Lehmer Studio, Classic Studio and McVey Studio. She taught a Photographic Oil class at State Fair Community College for 2 years. ....

The recipients of the Sedalia School District’s Superintendent’s Bell Ringer Award for December have been announced.
Smith-Cotton High School Principal Wade Norton and Athletic/Activities Director Rob Davis are the recipients of this month’s award.
