Recently business establishments and householders of Narahenpita area in the Colombo District witnessed a notification issued by the Officer–in-Charge of the Narahenpita Police Station dated 21
st January 2021, addressed to the enterprise heads titled “A Notification Connected with Security”. The notification stated that “due to the rapid spread in the country of the Covid-19 virus, that a large number of persons imprisoned connected with various types of criminal offenses, having been either released on bail or pardoned have entered society at large. These persons are most likely to engage in different types of criminal activities in the future. COLOMBO (News 1st): Another 40 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed from Sri Lanka Prisons on Tuesday (Dec. 29), officials said.
Of the total cases confirmed today, 37 are male inmates and three are female inmates, Prisons Spokesperson – Chandana Ekanayake said on Tuesday.
As of today (Dec. 29), the total number of COVID-19 cases confirmed at Prisons stands at 3949.
There are 846 COVID-19 cases confirmed at Welikada prison and 830 at the Magazine prison.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka stands at 41,603.
There are 8188 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 33,221 have recovered. ....
