Plans to demolish and replace Harrogate care home with three-storey facility spark overdevelopment concerns
Plans to bulldoze a care home to make way for a larger facility have been met with objections from neighbours and Harrogate Civic Society.

Harrogate firm Angela Swift Developments is seeking planning permission to demolish Tate House on Wetherby Road and build a 90-bed care home for people with visual impairment, dementia and respite care in its place.
It described the proposed three-storey development as a “state-of-the-art” facility which would cost £15million and create up to 70 full and part-time jobs.
However, the plans have sparked complaints from neighbours who fear they could lose their privacy and be overlooked by the 12-metre high building. ....

Work starts on £7m care home on site of Langrigg House in Carlisle


WORK has started on a £7m development that will create in the region of 90 jobs.
Demolition of the former Langrigg House council-run care home has begun to make way for a state-of-the art new build care home being developed by Harrogate-based Angela Swift Developments Group.
The development, which will be built on Langrigg Road in Morton, will provide residential, dementia and respite care for the elderly.
Planning permission for the 71 ensuite room development was granted in November.
A revised plan for an extra nine rooms was later submitted, with a decision expected next month.
The new three-storey care home will have a range of facilities for residents including a hairdressing salon, treatment room, library, coffee shop, activity rooms, balconies overlooking adjacent parkland and landscaped gardens. ....
