Covid causes 'ticking timebomb' as heart treatment delays 'put lives at risk'

A HEART treatment backlog caused by the Covid-19 crisis has been labelled a ticking timebomb .
The pressure on NHS services since the pandemic began 15 months ago as seen the waiting list for cardiovascular care grow by 35 per cent in the area covered by Swindon s Clinical Commissioning Group.
Figures revealed by the British Heart Foundation show 609 people were waiting for heart treatment across Swindon, Wiltshire and Bath & North East Somerset in February – up from 452 a year earlier. And 37 people had been waiting for more than 52 weeks.
The BHF says the disruption could put lives at risk and undo years of progress. ....

Covid vaccine offered to all care homes in Salisbury

All 32 care homes in Salisbury have now been offered the Covid-19 vaccine, a GP surgery has confirmed.
Salisbury Medical Practice alongside colleagues from Harcourt Medical Centre, Three Chequers Medical Practice, Downton Surgery and Whiteparish Surgery have been visiting homes in the evenings to roll out the jabs to residents and staff.
The Government had set the target of offering a Covid vaccine to everyone in care homes by January 30.
In Salisbury, the target has been met.
In a statement, a spokesperson from Salisbury Medical Practice said: Sarum South Primary Care Network, consisting of Salisbury Medical Practice, Harcourt Medical Centre, Three Chequers Medical Practice, Downton Surgery and Whiteparish Surgery have been working around the clock to deliver the Covid-19 vaccinations at Salisbury Cathedral and local care homes. ....
