SRTF-supported farmers produce more than 53,505 tons of wheat in Northeast Syria Format Northeast Syria – Monday, July 19, 2021 – The SRTF is pleased to announce another successful harvest season in Northeast Syria (NES). A total of 6,012 farms – comprising 14,255 hectares, farmed by 54,108 farmhands from 31 SRTF-supported cooperatives (coops), reported a total production of 53,505 tons of wheat this harvest season. The average yield is 3.75 tons per hectare, a 10% increase from 2020’s yield of 3.4 tons per hectare, which itself was 33% higher than 2019’s yield. The market value of this year’s harvest produced by the supported coops is around USD 18.75 million. In recent visits to the SRTF-supported coops, the SRTF observed the positive impact that its support continues to provide to the farmers and coops. The SRTF disburses funds to local entrepreneurs in Northeast Syria Format “Establishing a Revolving Fund to Support the Restoration of Livelihoods in Northeastern Syria – Phase I”. This intervention will support economic advancement and stabilization in NES through the creation of a Revolving Credit Fund (RCF). The RCF will provide financial and non-financial support services to 480 local entrepreneurs in Ar-Raqqa, Deir Ez-Zor, and Al-Hasakeh. The SRTF and NEF will disburse small loans to 480 entrepreneurs through three community-based livelihood hubs (Siraj Centers) established in the aforementioned governorates. This intervention has a budget of EUR 1.25 million and focuses on improving household economies by providing micro loans, development loans, and two-stage loans paired with complimentary support services to accelerate the growth and sustainability of small and micro-enterprises. The SRTF announces the successful completion of an agriculture intervention in Ar-Raqqa Format the third phase of its “Agricultural Support to Farmers” intervention under its “Filling the Void” (FtV) stabilization efforts in areas liberated from Daesh. The intervention positively impacted the lives of 2,318 farmers, their families, and workers who were able to cultivate over 7,000 hectares of land in eight farmer cooperatives, increase profits and savings, improve business and livelihoods and increase access to markets to sell their crops. The SRTF funded and delivered various agriculture inputs, equipment, and services under this intervention, including but not limited to, eight combine harvesters, 28 tractors, over 1,700 metric tons (MT) of high quality wheat seeds and over 1,700 metric tons (MT) of compound fertilizers, over 283,000 hessian sacks, and 2,318 personal protective equipment (PPE) to farmers and farmer cooperatives. ....
The SRTF Reveals its Accomplishments in 2020 Format Amman – Monday, March 15, 2021 – The SRTF is pleased to announce its accomplishments for 2020. The unprecedented challenges that emerged due to the COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated already dire living conditions in Syria throughout 2020. Despite the challenges, the SRTF was able to continue deliveries for its recovery projects and stabilization interventions, demonstrating the commitment and the resilience of the SRTF. In 2020, approximately 1.36 million Syrians benefited from SRTF-funded projects and interventions under different sectors including food security, agriculture, health, electricity, shelter, and solid waste & rubble removal.
