ALL banks open tomorrow

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has announced that all state and private banks will remain open tomorrow (12).
In view of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, the Ministry of Public Administration announced that 12 April would be declared as a special public holiday. 
However, this will not be a bank holiday.
The Narahenpita and Werahera Offices of the Department of Motor Traffic anounced that they will Provide Services as usual for the Public on 12.04.2021, the Special Public  Holiday.
Public services provided by Narahenpita and Werahera Offices of the Department of Motor Traffic will continue as usual on 12.04.2021, the special public holiday, for the clients who have already reserved a time over the telephone No. 0112 677877 which has been introduced in order to provide more efficient and friendly service. ....

Sinopec Launches Wholesale Bunker Deliveries to Hambantota

Hambantota International Port (HIP) said in a statement on Monday.
LMS supplied IMO 2020 compliant Very Low Sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) to their client, crude oil tanker m.v. Suez Hans, which was on route to the Suez from Chennai, HIP said.
The tanker refuelled at the Hambantota Port anchorage via oil barge m.v. Kumana, chartered to LMS by HIP, to handle the bunker supply.
Bunker operations at Hambantota were awarded to Sinopec after control of the port was handed over to Chinese interests by Sri Lanka s government in ....

MV Eurosun: Navy certifies that ship hull is not damaged

The Navy has confirmed that no damage was caused to the hull of the MV Eurosun which collided with a reef near the small Ravana lighthouse off the coast of Hambantota.
Preliminary investigations into the ship were carried out by a Sri Lanka Navy ship with a Navy diving team. It was revealed that a part of the ship about 70 meters from the back was stuck in a rock.
However, the investigation has confirmed that the ship had left the reef with the impact of the currents.
The ship, which was transporting cement-laden raw material clinker from the port of Abu Dhabi to the port of Trincomalee under the Liberian flag, ran aground near the small Ravana lighthouse on the afternoon of 22 January. ....

Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) ‘Rathnadeepa’ boarded with a team of Navy divers reached MV ‘Eurosun’ that ran aground at Little Basses about 5.5 nautical miles (10km) off the southeastern coast of the island on 23rd January and preliminary investigation into the incident got underway.
According to the preliminary investigation, no damage to the bulk carrier’s hull was reported and there was no sign of water leaking into the ship or oil into the ocean. It was also revealed that 15 Filipino nationals including the captain of the ship and 03 Ethiopian nationals were safe onboard.
The Marine Environment Protection Authority stated that it has been revealed that the captain of the MV ‘Eurosun’ ship which had collided with a reef near the small Ravana lighthouse off the coast of Hambantota has changed course. ....
