MIOSHA Creates COVID-19 Citations Dashboard -- Occupational Health & Safety

Dashboard is updated weekly to keep track of violations.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) launched a new online resource in order to streamline workplace safety citations in the workplace. According to the administration, the resource is being created to increase transparency and provide more information related to COVID-19 safety violations.
According to an article, the dashboard includes these categories:
- Citations abated, penalty paid, case closed
- Awaiting abatement or penalty, case open
- Under formal appeal
- Most recent
The new MIOSHA coronavirus dashboard is updated each Friday at 3 P.M. Employees can find resources to keep their businesses safe with factsheets, educational videos and COVID-19 preparedness and response plans. ....

Quite often, companies design their programs in reverse. They begin with the fun part the “What will we give them?” question. Will it be gift cards, T-shirts, pizza parties or cash?
A more effective approach is to start with the “why” question, then the “how” question and finish up with the “what” question. ....

As the United States makes progress against COVID-19, businesses and workplaces are reopening to greater capacities for workers and customers. Naturally, continuing to maintain worker safety is paramount in all industries, not just those deemed high risk. OSHA recently updated their COVID-19-specific guidance at the end of January 2021 and continues to recommend employers provide face coverings for all workers to wear while on duty. In addition, certain workers may also need to wear face shields for additional protection of their respirators or other face coverings to prevent them from getting wet or soiled. While there has been plenty of discussion surrounding the design and materials of face masks, there has not been as much surrounding face shields. Nashville Courthouse Evacuated After Suspicious Substance Found In Mail

WKRN, an envelope containing the substance was sent to the Finance Office on the first floor of the Historic Courthouse downtown Wednesday morning (March 17). The courthouse holds many Metro offices, including that of Mayor
John Cooper, who was also evacuated.
The Nashville Fire Department responded to the scene at 1 Public Square as did hazmat crews, who were working to identify the suspicious white powder substance. During their investigation, a decontamination area was set up outside the courthouse to ensure the safety of first responders in the event the substance proved to be dangerous.
According to
WSMV, a woman who opened the envelope reported having trouble breathing and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center but was considered to be in non-critical condition. A security guard was also isolated as a precaution after being near the substance. ....

CORNELIUS, Ore. (AP) Fire crews are battling a fire at an ethanol fuel facility west of Portland in Cornelius that has prompted evacuations, authorities said.
The Cornelius Fire Department on Twitter at about 1:42 p.m. Tuesday called the fire “serious” and posted a photo of the blaze at a building and thick, black smoke above it.
Fire officials then tweeted a map showing an area in which people needed to evacuate, which included a Walmart store, and said others should shelter in place.
At about 2:45 p.m., Cornelius fire officials tweeted that crews were making a plan to attack the flames as safely as possible, adding that it would be a “long duration event.” ....
