The Go Safe Certification Program, an initiative spearheaded by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), is continuing to be rolled out across the emirate as DCT Abu Dhabi works towards its target of standardizing health and safety measures across 100% of all retail, tourism, and commercial establishments in Abu Dhabi.
The ambitious and ground-breaking initiative has brought together the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), Aldar Properties, Modon Properties (Modon), Yas Theme Parks and attractions, as well as Etihad Airways in a joint partnership created to combat the spread of COVID-19 and keep the local economy moving by reassuring visitors and residents they are safe to visit any establishment because of the stringent safety protocols in place.

Abu Dhabi is once again demonstrating its readiness to welcome visitors this weekend with a successful opening night for the action-packed, week-long UFC FIGHT ISLAND Triple Header.

Adding to the history of the occasion, the event was held at the all-new Etihad Arena on Yas Island.

Stringent health and safety protocols were in place at the Emirate’s latest world-class entertainment venue, underlining Abu Dhabi’s coordinated and collaborative response to Covid-19, as the Etihad Arena made its debut as the new international home of UFC.

A limited number of ticketholders took their seats for an enthralling UFC FIGHT NIGHT: HOLLOWAY VS KATTAR, the world’s first UFC event to welcome fans since the beginning of the pandemic.

While some are pushing back and wishing for pre-2020 normalcy to return, the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi is leaning in, rethinking its meetings offering and experimenting with new tools and solutions to empower event planners to level up their knowledge and skillsets.
On December 24, 2020, Abu Dhabi reopened to international travelers and continues to implement rigorous health and safety measures, including a quarantine period of 10 days.

An exciting new project launched today will see adventurers soon able to embark on exciting desert explorations in Abu Dhabi.
The Off-Road Driving in Abu Dhabi Project, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), consists of six off-road driving route maps covering Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra and Al Ain, which adventurers can follow to embark on desert camping and desert safari experiences in their vehicles.

Welcome to the Off-Road Driving Project, a series of six off-road driving routes mapped across meandering terrain in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The trails have been designed for those with a taste for adventure to head off on safe self-drive expeditions, and track down intrepid desert camping experiences.
It’s another innovative project conceived by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT), and again shows that there’s more to the emirate than futuristic buildings, epic shopping trips, theme parks and pristine beaches.
The routes have been graded at different accessibility and driving ability levels, from beginner to expert. Each option offers its own exciting sight-seeing opportunities, with wildlife encounters such as gazelle and camel, entrancing dune configurations and hidden oases.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) hosted its first virtual roadshow in China from December 8 – 9, connecting more than 100 Chinese tour operators and travel agencies with 37 of its partners and stakeholders, including Destination Management Companies (DMCs) from across the emirate, representatives from Etihad Airways, Yas island, and the emirate’s hotels and attractions.

The event followed on from DCT Abu Dhabi receiving the ‘Annual Strategic Partner’ award from leading Chinese travel service company, Ctrip, at the Global Partner Summit, which was held in October.

The first of its kind, Abu Dhabi’s ‘Virtual China Roadshow’ served to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s presence within the Chinese market by using technology to maintain connections with Chinese stakeholders and update them with destination-related information, as well as with initiatives to guarantee safety in the capital.
