The Maine CDC reports 295 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Health officials are calling this a crucial time, as they encourage residents to get vaccinated before the start of tourist season, and possible influx of visitors from out of state. All residents, age 16 and over, will be eligible to get vaccinated, beginning on Wednesday.
A man was arrested on a probation violation after a standoff in Brewer on Saturday. Police originally got a tip of a hostage situation, but determined there was no hostage. Officials had been looking for Nicholas McDonald on an outstanding warrant.
People traveling evenings and nights on State Street in Bangor can expect possible detours as crews work to install a new water main. Construction will start this evening, near the intersection of State and Hancock Streets, and take place between 6 PM and 6 AM. Find a map of the detour plan on the city of Bangor s website. ....

Back in the day of Ed Reyes and Dennis Zine, I’m sure that was true. And it was also true back then that the police and City felt free to tow cars any time they wanted. Of course, that was before the homeless crisis, including a subset of people living in their cars, or trying to. 
Anyhow, prominent on the LA City Council Agenda for Wednesday, February 10, 2021 was another attempt to root these homeless folks from living in their vehicles like RV’s. Historic Property 19 Hancock Street – the Hancock – Everett Independent


(The following is a weekly feature in the Independent based on the City’s 2018 Historic Property Survey done to note the many little-known historically significant properties within the city.)
Architectural Description:
The Hancock Apartment Building at 19 Hancock Street is a well-preserved turn-of-the century apartment block, constructed in 1899. The three-story, flat-roofed brick block has a rough granite belt course above the basement windows, a yellow brick course above the third floor windows and a projecting cornice decorated by brick courses and dentils. The center façade bay is fronted by a single-story entrance porch supported by two sets of three squat (painted) brick piers with foliate capitals. Other decorative elements on the porch include a wide frieze with dentils and a rough-faced granite belt course on the base. The porch shelters a modern glass-and-metal entrance consisting of door with sidelights. Above the entrance porch there is a tripartite window ....
