During his 39 years in prison, the closest Joseph Messere ever came to walking free was when he was intubated, unconscious, and dying of Covid-19. Brockton Second-Chance Justice Campaign seeks commutation in murder


That is the moment when four Brockton detectives arrested a confused Allen on suspicion of murder.
Now a group called the Second-Chance Justice Campaign is hoping to change his life again.
Court records indicate Allen and his friend Roland Perry were seen entering an apartment on 41 Spring St. wearing ski masks and wielding knives the day before Allen was arrested, based off the testimony of an eye witness.
