By Sue Danielson Photo: Getty Images (West Des Moines, IA) Hy-Vee plans to offer COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the Iowa State Fair next month. Flu vaccines will also be offered pending availability. The vaccination clinics will be held daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12 through Sunday, Aug. 22 at a booth located between the Grand Avenue gate and the Elwell Family Food Center on the west side of the Fairgrounds. No appointment is necessary but each vaccine recipient must stay in the observation area for 15 minutes after they receive their vaccine. Hy-Vee will offer the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available to individuals 12 years of age and older. Janssen vaccines are available for individuals 18 years of age and older, and require a single-dose injection.
