Hillsboro Chamber Of Commerce To Present Awards Friday Night
The Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 99th annual awards banquet Friday, May 14, at the HILCO Civic and Event Center in Itasca.
The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. and include the presentation of annual awards, dinner and silent and live auctions. Tickets for this year s event are now sold out.
Awards presented this year will include Citizen of the Year Mark Roden, Local Business of the Year Hill Regional Hospital, Regional Business of the Year IKO Southwest and Farm Family of the Year P&M Farms of Abbott. ....

Venue Change Announced For Chamber Event
The Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce has announced a venue change for its annual awards banquet set for Friday, May 14, at 6 p.m.
The banquet was initially set to be held at the Hillsboro Municipal Airport, but it will now be held at the HILCO Civic & Event Center in Itasca. The center is located at 1000 South Files Street.
A limited number of tickets are available for the banquet, as it will be held at a smaller venue on the grounds.

Commissioners Hear Update On Agreement With Chamber
The Hill County Commissioners Court met in a special session Tuesday, April 6, to hear an update from the county s economic development coordinator and consider several special agenda items.
Last August, commissioners approved an agreement with the Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce to create a county-wide effort to promote tourism and economic development. Chamber Director Wendy Ellis led the effort, with the chamber paying her salary and the county covering her benefits as economic development coordinator.
Ellis told the court that she has accepted a new job and will no longer fill the position, with Tuesday, April 6, being her last day at the chamber. She expressed her thanks to County Judge Justin Lewis and commissioners. ....

Four Hillsboro businesses recently received funds from the Hillsboro Small Business Support Grant Program. The grants were funded by the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro in an effort to support local businesses and help them survive the economic downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Ada Motherspau and members of the Mission Outreach Member Care Committee of First Presbyterian Church Peggy McFerrin, Norma Kidwell and Evelyn Spencer dispersed grant awards to small businesses in the Hillsboro Main Street District.
The initial recipients were Overflow Coffee Co., Little Bear’s Clubhouse, Natalie’s Floral and Gifts and Two Sisters Antiques. ....
