The relief is in sight as families face increasingly dire situations in Indiana and around the country.
INDIANAPOLIS — Federal aid is on its way to Americans after President Donald Trump signed a coronavirus relief bill into law Sunday night.
The $900 billion stimulus package is the first significant effort in nine months to get financial aid to the people and institutions most affected by the ongoing pandemic. Congress passed the bill early last week, but the president delayed signing it after criticizing what he called low stimulus payments to Americans and wasteful spending on other programs.
The federal government last made COVID-19 help available when it passed the $2.2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security, or CARES, Act in late March. At that time, most individual adults received $1,200 stimulus checks and $500 per dependent child younger than 17. ....

Hoosiers struggle as Congress debates COVID-19 relief

During a family gathering earlier this month, 10-year-old Jayden Klink stood next to the Christmas tree looking at the handmade ornaments of handprints and said the holiday is about spending time with family, not buying gifts. 
Jayden s mom, 50-year old Renee Klink of Noblesville, blinked back tears at that heartfelt admission while explaining she s teaching him such lessons because money is tight this holiday. She s worried about being evicted if she can t pay rent.

Klink hasn t worked since March, when she lost her corporate catering job amid the coronavirus pandemic. She s one of hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers relying on unemployment insurance programs created by the federal CARES Act, a relief bill signed into law in March that paid businesses and workers, temporarily banned evictions and fun ....
