A flash fire in a boat injured family members Saturday afternoon at Lake Brownwood. According to Lake Patrol Chief Mark Davis, the accident happened at Wild Duck Marina. A father, mother and three children, ages 3 to 9, were on board. The flash fire happened after refueling. Two of the children and the father had minor burns. One child had second degree burns. Two were transported to Hendrick Brownwood for treatment. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening. ....

Six lanes of traffic were created to keep traffic flowing as 600 folks, who previously registered online with the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department, came to a mass COVID vaccination clinic Wednesday held in the visitor parking lot of Gordon Wood Stadium. Emily Crawford, Brownwood City Manager, said approximately 60 health care workers were on site to facilitate the clinic. “We have people from the City of Brownwood, from Brown County, Howard Payne and Ranger College nursing students, Lifeguard EMS and we also have several people here from Hendrick Brownwood that are here actually giving the vaccinations.” The clinic began at 6 o’clock Wednesday morning both on-site at Gordon Wood Stadium and at the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department office. ....
The Brownwood/Brown County Health Department and Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood are partnering to host a closed drive-thru COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on Wednesday, February 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clinic is listed as “closed” in order to better serve qualifying individuals who have previously signed up on the Health Department’s vaccination contact list. The clinic is in response to a large-scale shipment of 600 vaccine doses supplied to Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood. As additional vaccine shipments arrive in the future, the Health Department and Hendrick Brownwood expect to coordinate more large-scale vaccination events. The closed drive-thru clinic scheduled for Wednesday will focus on vaccinating remaining qualifying health care workers in the “1A Phase,” as well as individuals over the age of 65 years old with specific pre-existing health conditions as outlined by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). ....
