RALSTON – Two elderly women from Bradford County were killed instantly in a violent head-on collision that involved two pickup trucks on Route 14, about a half a mile north of here, at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, state police confirmed.
The two were passengers in a northbound Toyota Tundra that crossed into the southbound lane, colliding with a Ford F150 pickup truck, police said.
The identities of the two women, who died of blunt force trauma injuries, were expected to be released later, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr., who responded to the scene along with Chief Deputy Coroner Jerold Ross. ....

Acid mine drainage destroys the aquatic life, turning streams orange with toxic chemicals from mining, said Marc Lewis, spokesman for the Loyalsock Creek Watershed Association.
The Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation is helping to monitor the upper reaches of the creek. Water quality and the effluent from two abandoned mine discharge treatment systems are being looked at as is gas withdraw impacts, Lewis said. ....

Couple charged in 16-years abuse case have bails adjusted | News, Sports, Jobs

Matthew and Christine Zeigler, an estranged couple recently arraigned on charges related to 16 years of alleged abuse of their 8 children, have waived their preliminary hearings and have had their set bails adjusted.
Christine Zeigler was previously let out on bail of $15,000 and under the conditions she could not have contact with her children. However, she requested Solomon allow her contact with the three minors who were victims in the case so the four of them could continue family therapy and reunification.
Solomon granted an exception to the no-contact rule that allowed Christine to contact her three minor children for counseling and visitation under the supervision of Children and Youth Services. She may not have contact with them outside supervision from CYS, and she may not have contact with any of the adult victims. ....
