Glasgow's Hidden Gardens to host national covid memorial open day - and here's how you can sign up


IT IS a way to offer healing and reflection with the aim of reaching out to people as part of The Herald’s covid memorial project.
An open day is being held in Glasgow s south side and is an opportunity to find out more about the project.
The event on Friday, July 30, is also a chance to meet artist Alec Finlay who is leading the engagement phase which will help shape the future memorial.
It will be held at the Hidden Gardens, at the Tramway, from 11am to 4pm and it is also a way to become involved in our I remember theme for reflection of the pandemic. ....

Covid memorial campaign reaches out to Scotland's artists


IT was launched with the hope that Scotland would have a place to remember those who lost their lives to coronavirus.
The Herald memorial garden campaign has been taken to people’s hearts and now nine months on since the initial proposal was revealed, sadly many more lives have been lost to the cruel virus.
Families have mourned the loss of wives, husbands, mothers and fathers all while trying to cope with living through a global pandemic.

Covid Pollok Park walk will be in memory of friend who died from virus

SHE knows only too well the impact and devastation covid can bring having lost a friend to the virus and watched another family friend suffer from the long term effects of it.
It is the reason why this month Mary Graham has put her walking boots on and is attempting to complete 280,000 steps in February to raise funds for The Herald memorial garden campaign.
Hoping to cover around 10,000 steps a day, Mrs Graham regularly walks in Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park, the site of the proposed memorial, and she is planning to complete her challenge by Sunday, February 28. ....
