Kia serves up new fleet for meals on wheels firm

The first batch of a new 75-strong fleet of Kia Picantos have been delivered to a Hertfordshire-based meals on wheels provider.
Hertfordshire Independent Living Service (HILS) will use the fleet to deliver more than half a million meals this year – more than 1,500 meals a day – as well as other services to support older and vulnerable people across Hertfordshire.
Phil Martin, director of resources at HILS, (pictured) said: “The Kia Picanto has really impressed us and despite having previously having a fleet of city cars, the Picanto itself far exceeds other vehicles we have relied on and suits our needs despite the large volumes of food we deliver on a daily basis. ....

Two meetings looking at the future of Friendship House in Hatfield will take place tonight.
The elderly day centre was forced to close as the charity could not raise donations to fund its staffing and operating costs.

The charity currently has a lease from Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, paying £130 in rent annually, but it is required to make sure the building is operated only as a day centre for the elderly. ....
