More than 10,000 Minnesota teens have been vaccinated

The Minnesota Department of Health has expressed concern about the increased positivity rates among the school-age population, and encourages parents of 16- and 17-year-olds to get their students vaccinated.
Only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for those ages 16-17.
Over the past week in St. Louis County, those age 4 and under had nine new cases; ages 5-9 had 22 new cases; ages 10-14 had 11 new cases; and those ages 15-19 had 28 new cases.
Statewide COVID-19 cases over the past week by age group were: age 4 and under, 396; ages 5-9, 626; ages 10-14, 920; and ages 15-19, 1,176.
From March 28 through April 3, there were 796 more positive cases in schools statewide, with 120 new cases among staff and 676 new cases among students. The state reported one staff member spent time in the ICU and one student was hospitalized last week. ....

Five Northland teams headed to Minn. state robotics competition

It s not easy for anyone to collaborate over a distance, but it s an obstacle the Two Harbors Robo Dweebs overcame.
The Dweebs and four other Northland teams are on their way to the
I am so proud of these guys. It s been a hard season, but it s been a great season, Robo Dweebs coach Jenna Udenberg said. They ve been going since Aug. 1, so it s a very long season and a very different season, but they ve been working hard.
All of their practices have happened via Google Meet. The theme for the 2021 state challenges is exercise.
Our challenge this year for our project is making sure that people are active. The problem that we re trying to solve is that people are not necessarily as active as what they should be, Alex Stone, one of the Robo Dweebs, said. ....

Duluth Elks Lodge #133 delivered dictionaries to all third graders at the
Hermantown Elementary School, and to
Stella Maris Academy. This has been an annual event for the Duluth Elks Lodge for several years. The dictionaries belong to the students for their own personal use. Also, the Elks in December were awarded a combined Beacon/Spotlight Grant from the Elks Community Investments Program. They received $5,500 and distributed the money to 5 local area elementary schools. $1,100 was awarded to each of the following schools: ....
