On Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 24-25, Lombard-based DuPage for Progress will host two separate virtual meet-and-greets featuring local candidates running in the April 6, 2021 municipal election.
The Feb. 24 municipal candidate panel will be moderated by Lombard small business owner Catrina Kagel.

It will include Liz Brezinski (candidate for Lombard Village Clerk), Brian LaVaque (candidate for Lombard Village Trustee, District 1) and Julie Kowalski-Schmidt (candidate for Helen Plum Library Trustee). ....

Lombard officials unanimously approved rezoning and sign ordinances to allow for a new Helen Plum Library building during a virtual village board meeting Thursday.
The two-story, 50,000-square-foot facility is budgeted at $27.8 million and is to be located at 401-425 S. Main St. The site is currently home to a shuttered Mr. Z s supermarket and a professional building.

The purchase of the land was contingent upon the library getting zoning approval from the village. The current library building at 110 W. Maple St. is to remain open while construction progresses on the new building, which is slated to open in fall 2022. ....

Barb Kruser is out as executive director at Helen Plum Library, library officials announced, without providing any reason for the leadership change.
Sue Kehoe Wilsey, the library s support services and communications director, did not elaborate on Kruser s Dec. 30 departure that was made in a carefully worded news release Monday.

Wilsey also declined to comment during a follow-up telephone call seeking clarification. However, she hinted that more information might be released after the next library board meeting Wednesday, Jan. 20. ....
