Nearly 17,000 Montanans have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, state officials said Wednesday.
According to Bekki Wehner of the state Department of Public Health and Human Services Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Bureau, that number represents roughly 50% of the vaccines that so far have been shipped to Montana. The number of vaccines Montana receives and the number of people vaccinated, however, changes day by day, Wehner said Wednesday
The state is amid its first phase of a four-part rollout plan that began in early December and aims for distribution to the general public by July 2021. In the current phase, frontline healthcare workers, long-term care facilities and healthcare workers in direct patient contact or virus exposure are to receive vaccines.
