GARDNER Officials at Heywood Healthcare are wrapping up their phase 1 COVID-19 vaccination rollout with two clinics for health care workers and other COVID-facing professionals.
The clinics will be held at the health system’s Athol and Gardner campuses.
“You have to be a phase 1 person to be able to sign up at this point in time,” explained Heywood Healthcare President and CEO Win Brown. “We have to follow the state guidelines and we’ve seen people sign up that aren’t quite eligible to do that yet, so please do not go in and sign up until we invite you for phase 2.” ....

GARDNER The city is planning a mass vaccination clinic at Heywood Hospital, according to officials.
The event will be in response to Gov. Charlie Baker’s announcement on Jan. 25 that Massachusetts seniors age 75 and older, followed by those 65 and older or with two underlying conditions, would be prioritized in phase 2 of the state’s vaccination plan, which is scheduled to begin next month. Early education and K-12 workers, food and agriculture workers, and public works and public health workers are also included in the second phase of the state’s plan. ....

Community Health Connections (CHC) opens COVID-19 testing site at former Prospect Street School in Gardner

New location offers expanded space for staff and patients

GARDNER The Community Health Connections new COVID-19 testing site at the former Prospect Street School has opened to the public. The new location, which replaces the group’s former site on Connors St., officially opened on Dec. 21.
Community Health Connections CEO and President John DeMalia said the new facility allows for increased capacity and the ability to accommodate patients during the cold weather.
“Our original testing site had a test setup outside for patients to walk up and be tested,” DeMalia said. “As the weather changed, this became unworkable. We then brought patients into our facility but significantly reduced the number of patients that we could test while still maintaining our normal services.” ....
