Three teens charged with hate crimes

Two of the teens were also charged with unlawful mischief and the third with accessory before the fact.
Hinesburg Police officers responded to the school May 9 to find about 12 chalk drawings made by students covered in black liquid. Police chief Anthony Cambridge said it seemed the perpetrators “specifically targeted the flags,” since many other nearby drawings and notes were left untouched.
According to VTDigger, school officials estimated clean-up costs at $1,500.
Cambridge said he did not know which school the teens attended. They were identified via video surveillance footage. The case heads to the state’s attorney. ....

Chittenden County car break-ins: Lock your car after recent sprees


Several Chittenden County towns have been victim to sprees of car break-ins in recent weeks. 
Some people, like Hinesburg resident Cyndy Craft, had their cars hit after leaving car doors unlocked. Craft, in particular, had a paddleboard stolen in April. 
I like to be very trusting, Craft said. I like to believe that people are generally wanting to help each other and be kind to each other, so it s frustrating when someone takes from you.  
Now, Craft makes sure to lock her car doors, and she is encouraging Vermonters to look out for their neighbors and report any suspicious activity. She also just wants her paddleboard back.  ....

Dec. 11 at 8:27 a.m., Shelburne Fire and Rescue responded to a false alarm at Exterus Business Furniture.
Dec. 11 at 9:43 a.m., guests at Countryside Motel got into an argument about personal property. Police oversaw the exchange of a cell phone and other personal items.
Dec. 11 at 6:41 p.m., a man and woman arguing in the parking lot of the Pet Food Warehouse were disgruntled when police arrived. No physical assault had happened, and they didn’t want any help.
Dec. 12 at 4:13 a.m., before a 911 call and hang up disconnected, police could hear a woman asking for help. Shelburne Police assisted Vermont State Police in checking on the incident on Route 7 near State Park Road. Vermont State Police talked to the woman. She was OK and did not need help. ....
