County COVID-19 cases continue precipitous drop

The COVID-19 case count in Highland County has dropped below 50 cases per 100,000 residents, according to a Wednesday update from the Highland County Health Commissioner Jared Warner.
Warner said that as of Wednesday the case count stood at 44.02 cases per 100,000 residents, and that the county has seen only 19 new cases over the past two weeks.
Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Director Stephanie McCloud announced on Thursday that, effective immediately, the Ohio Public Health Advisory System has been canceled. McCloud said that “as cases decline and vaccinations increase, this data is no longer the best measure of Ohio’s current status.” ....

COVID-19 case counts in Highland County have dropped significantly after weeks of increases, according to a Tuesday update from Highland County Health Commissioner Jared Warner
Warner said the county is currently at 88.04 Covid cases per 100,000 residents, which drops it below the high incidence threshold. He said the county has had 38 new cases in the last 14 days and that the other trends are low and look to be staying there.
“Good news all around on COVID-19 disease trends,” Warner said.
In vaccination news, the gap in vaccination numbers for Ohio and Highland County continued to rise in both the “vaccine started” and “vaccine completed” categories. ....

Highland County lagging behind on vaccinations

Highland County is lagging behind the rest of the state in the number of residents receiving a COVID-19, according to Highland County Health Commissioner Jared Warner.
Highland County is behind other parts of the state both in the number of those who have started the vaccination process and those who have completed it, according to the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard, which was last updated Monday.
The state average for “vaccine started” is 31.84 percent, while the Highland County average is 21.37 percent.
In terms of completed vaccines, the state average is 18.72 percent, whereas the Highland County average is 14.61 percent. ....
