Westbound Bridge on Midwestern Parkway To Be Closed For 30 Days The Westbound Midwestern Parkway bridge over Holliday Creek will be closed for up to 30 days beginning this Thursday. One of the lanes on the North bridge has been closed for some time now as repairs are being made, but the time has come to divert all traffic onto the South bridge. This is being done both for the safety of drivers and workers, and to expedite the repair process. Beginning Thursday, July 8th, traffic will be routed into single lanes, making the South bridge two-way traffic. Detour signs will be posted on Midwestern Parkway at Hamilton Boulevard and Lake Park Drive. ....
Council awards bid on Taft Boulevard project Wichita Falls City Councilors Tuesday awarded the contract for the Taft Boulevard Improvement Project to Scales Concrete Construction Co., Inc., a local company, for $5,566,124. The widening of Taft was approved by voters in 2018 as part of a street bond issue. In awarding the contract, the city staff considered sealed bids on the qualifications of each bidder rather than just granting the job to the lowest bidder. Two companies submitted lower bids than Scales. “This is going to be one of those projects where the public is going to come to us,” Mayor Stephen Santellana said. ....

Holliday Creek Solar LLC, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota will build the field and eventually transfer the site’s certificate to MidAmerican Energy. Construction is set to begin in the spring and conclude by next winter, according to Webster County planning and zoning administrator Jeff Johnson. The energy will be directed to a nearby substation, then exported to a transmission grid providing energy to other counties. “We are moving in the right direction,” Johnson said many participating landlords and homeowners in the county are interested in this project. ....
