Free depression screenings offered to Hanover Township older adults

In celebration of Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Day, the Hanover Township Department of Aging Services will be holding free, in-person depression screenings on May 6 for residents 55 years and older at the Township Senior Center (240 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett). Beginning at 1PM, Township clinicians will evaluate seniors and provide referrals to local agencies or schedule in-house therapy through the Township program, Communities Helping Others Preserve Everyday (C-HOPE) at the senior center. Seniors who complete a screening will receive a free stress relief kit.
C-HOPE is provided to residents at no cost, regardless of insurance coverage. ....

The Hanover Township Mental Health Board approved $18,900 in funding during their meeting on April 27.
Ecker Center for Behavioral Health was awarded $12,500 in challenge funding to assist in the creation of their new crisis stabilization unit that will launch later this year. The unit is intended to assist residents in need of mental health services that do not rise to the level of hospitalization.

The board also awarded $6,400 in challenge funding to Partners for Our Communities to provide additional case management at the township s Astor Avenue Community Center in Hanover Park. Based in Palatine, the agency provides case management services for immigrants seeking legal, medical and mental health services, and more. ....

The Hanover Township Mental Health Board approved $24,145 in funding during its meeting on Feb. 23.
Catholic Charities was awarded $7,500 in capital funding to purchase Thermoscans and docking stations to conduct temperature screenings at their offices.

Community Alternatives United (CAU) was awarded $12,000 in capital funds to purchase laptops to provide virtual services. CAU works with township residents with developmental or cognitive disabilities.
The Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault (NWCASA) received $1,970 in contract support funds for technological upgrades to allow for staff to work remotely. NWCASA supports residents who are victims of sexual assault. ....

The Hanover Township Mental Health Board approved $11,574 in funding to three agencies during their virtual meeting on Dec. 14.
The board awarded $6,000 in Emergency Funding to PADS of Elgin to cover the expense of residents who were moved from the shelter to a hotel following a positive COVID-19 case in the facility. Funding also allowed for cleaning and disinfecting of the shelter.

Easterseals received $3,000 in Staff Development Funding to attend trainings to improve their bookkeeping and fundraising operations.
Based in Villa Park, with offices in Elgin, the agency provides outpatient services to children with developmental disabilities. ....
