Meet the “Lady of the House”: My name is Lamai Hill and I am originally from the small town of Nevada, (Nuh-Vay-Duh) Missouri. I just recently moved to Perdido Key, Florida at the beginning of the year and I love it! I am married to a Retired US Marine and together we have 3 children; an infant son in Heaven, and twin girls. Art has been a secret passion of mine since I was in middle school. I say “secret” because I really didn’t like to show off my work and I still don’t, I am very insecure about it. I picked up on Photography 4 years ago in 2009. It was about a year after our son passed away, it was something that kept me busy and comforted me at the same time. What began as a small hobby to help ease my mind grew into this huge passion and now I try not to leave the house without a camera in tow. I’ll shoot anything that has any smudge of artistic flare! I love bright colors. I just picked up on Street Photography. I love it because it’s raw and candid shots of people that come from all walks of life, everyone with a story… There’s no rhyme or reason, and there is just something about it that is mysteriously mesmerizing to me. I shoot in manual. I don’t really care for the auto modes, I feel like that’s too easy, so I am not a “point and shoot” kind of girl. I like to think that I know my camera inside and out but I’m still learning, there is always something new to learn when it comes to photography, it’s a vicious cycle!
