I am proud to call myself a lifelong Kentuckian. I grew up understanding the importance of working to provide for your family as I watched my own two parents work day in and day out at a local assembly plant. They instilled in me a deep respect for the values of family, hard work, and a love for our community.. . Throughout my life I attended Kentucky’s greatest asset – our public schools. From elementary school in Franklin, Ky to the University of Kentucky here in Lexington, I have benefited from the efforts of unspoken heroes, our Kentucky educators. They devoted their time and energy, often times underpaid and lacking in resources, to preparing me for the future. . . As a member of the small business community, I have benefited from Lexington’s economic climate that not only supports but encourages entrepreneurship. While it hasn’t always been easy, I have worked to continue practicing those early values in business. I’ve always believed that if you do the right thing, it will reward you now and in the future. This has been one of my personal mottos in business working with staff, customers, and even competitors.. . Just being a bystander has never been in my DNA. When I see an area that concerns me, it’s always been important for me to take action. Throughout my life, I have tried my best to answer the call when our community needs me. I have served since 2014 as the Chair of Lexington Fairness advocating for a more equal and just community. I also currently serve as a Mayor’s appointment to the Lexington Human Rights Commission. Working in the community on behalf of all Lexington’s residents, has allowed me to form relationships with leaders of faith, our police and fire departments, the business community, and the remarkable people that live in our city.. . In 2016, we began on the path of becoming foster parents and opening our home to some of Kentucky’s most in need. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been the right thing to do.. . I call Lexington home because it offers some of the best about our Commonwealth and I hope to do my part to make sure that future generations can look back and also say that they are proud to call themselves a Kentuckian..
