The Chapter is very involved with various community service programs, including the Martin Luther King Holiday Coalition. Following the sorority’s long- held tradition of advancing academics in the community, Lambda Chi Omega Chapter proudly launched its Mentoring Scholarship Opportunity program in 2009.. . General Information. Purpose: The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is 1) to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, 2) to promote unity and friendship among college trained women, 3) to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve social stature, 4) to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and 5) to be of service to all mankind.. Since 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has implemented programs of service impacting countless lives.. The 2014-2018 International Program will focus on Launching New Dimensions of Service℠. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, through its 265,000 members and 986 chapters, will have an opportunity to address community needs with programs in five target areas:. 1.
