Detailed description is MSA is the umbrella organiztion for all PTA/PTOs in Middletown. The objectives of the Middletown Schools’ Council, in common with those of the National PTA and the Connecticut PTA are the following:. . a. to promote the welfare of children and youth in the home, school, and community;. . b. to gather and disseminate information regarding education;. . c. to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth; and. . d. to promote communication between members of the PTAs and other school organizations, teachers, the school administrators, and the Board of Education, and the interested public.. . What is the MSA? The Middletown Schools Association is a "PTA Council" comprised of representatives from every PTA and PTO in the eleven schools of the Middletown Public School District, and represented as such as a voting member of the Connecticut PTA Board. Like the PTA/Os, we are incorporated as a 501C(3) of the IRS Code as a nonprofit organization, chartered under the Connecticut PTA as a branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers (the National PTA.). . What do we do? We inform and organize action on district wide issues that concern parents, teachers and citizens alike-issues like the new high school, transportation, school nutrition, parent concerns, the education budget, student achievement, information about Board of Ed candidates, and classroom enrollment, for example. We also work to keep parents informed of what is happening in other Middletown schools and with the District and the Board of Education. We are an important voice in our children's education and help to lead and shape the future of our schools for the benefit of our children and our community.. . Who can join? Membership consists of the president of each PTA or their delegates, but in general, anyone who is a member of Middletown's PTAs or PTOs is welcome to become involved in the MSA and its activities. Often, parents who have been involved in their PTA/Os after many years gravitate toward MSA involvement looking to make a broader impact, but fresh ideas and "new blood" is very welcome, as well..
